1 - Brush lines dry faster than pen lines, so you can usually ink in any direction.
2 - A brush is pulled during inking. It is never pushed.
3 - When you dip the brush do not cover all the brush hairs with ink, only half to
three quarters of the brush.
4 - After inking the brush pull it over the edge of the ink bottle and make a point
on the brush.
5 - Turn your drawing while inking. You can also use a clean piece of paper under
your hand so that you do not smear your work.
6 - When using a brush a medium surface Bristol board works much better than a
smooth surface Bristol board.
7 - A brush does not have to be broken in like a pen. Grab a new brush and start
inking.
8 - When you are finished inking wash your brush in a mild solution of soap and
water. Pull the brush over your finger while cleaning, never push! Waterproof
ink is very corrosive, so make sure your brush is clean.
9 - Practice with different size brushes to find the brush that works best for
you. My favorite brush for inking cartoons is a #2 Loew-Cornell Ultra Round.
10 - Buy only the best brushes. A good brush is one that keeps it's point until it
is to worn out.
